Terri's Classic Thanksgiving Dinner
The whole meal my family shows up for every year. Seven tried and true recipes, from the stuffed roast turkey to the chocolate chip pie, with my notes and make-ahead tips in every one.
Nothing fancy or fussy. Just real home cooking that tastes like the holidays.
No more piecing together a menu from ten different websites and hoping it all comes out at the same time. This is one complete dinner that has been made, tweaked, and loved around my table for years. Every recipe has the ingredients, step-by-step directions, cook times, and the little things I've learned along the way.
Seven recipes. One whole Thanksgiving.
Roast Turkey
Seasoned and stuffed the old-fashioned way, written for a 16 to 18 pound bird.
Bread Stuffing
Serves 10 to 12, with a little Tabasco bite that keeps everyone coming back.
Giblet Gravy
Rich, homemade gravy made right from the turkey, the way Mom taught me.
Green Beans with Bacon
The side dish that disappears first. Simple, savory, and so good.
Fruit Salad
A bright, fresh bite to balance out all that holiday comfort food.
Yam and Apple Casserole
Sweet yams and tender apples baked together. A family favorite for a reason.
Charlotte's Chocolate Chip Pie
A fluffy, chocolate-speckled marshmallow pie in a buttery cinnamon-oat crust. Terri named it for her mother-in-law and her granddaughter, both named Charlotte. Make it the day before and it's ready straight from the fridge.
Terri's Thanksgiving Game Plan
The hardest part of Thanksgiving isn't any one recipe. It's getting all of them done at the same time. This 3-page plan does the timing for you.
- One combined shopping list for all seven recipes
- What to do a few days before and the day before
- An hour-by-hour countdown to dinner, easy to shift for any mealtime
- An oven and stove chart plus a make-ahead cheat sheet
Why No Pumpkin Pie?
Truth is, I don't make a good pumpkin pie. There, I said it.
I've always just bought one. And most years, somebody shows up at my door holding one anyway. Why fight a good thing?
So you won't find a pumpkin pie recipe from me. Grab one from the store, or better yet, let your guests bring it. I've got the rest of the table covered, including a pie that's actually mine: Charlotte's Chocolate Chip Pie.

From my kitchen to yours
I'm a mom of six, and cooking is how I show my creativity. My kids love my home cooking, and they show up for every family dinner, especially this one.
My mom taught me so much in the kitchen, and now my daughters come together at different times to cook the recipes that have been passed down in our family. I like taking a recipe and tweaking it until it's mine, and these are the versions we make every single year.
And yes, I still stuff the bird. I know it's not the popular thing anymore, but the stuffing flavors the turkey and the turkey juices flavor the stuffing, and you just can't beat that.
